Part of my Cool Chords series for ukulele, this chord is strange in that an alternate fingering produces the same notes, different TAB but the same notes. Comes in handle when creating melody and chord arrangements on ukulele and for chord improvisation.

Big name, common chord. F#m7b5, sometimes called a half diminished seventh chord, depending on its harmonic function within the chord progression (song). Can be a II chord in the key of Em and a VII chord in the key of G major.

I’m presenting it here based on the key of G major and its relative minor key of Em. The same notes can also be a D9 or Am6 chords – depending how it’s being used.

The standard music notation and TAB is shown below for both voicings in high and low G, C tuning. Notice the TAB is the same regardless of the tuning variant you are using.
