The open strings and frets (5) and (7), with only natural notes in C tuning are somewhat easy to memorize. These can be considered Key frets.
There is nothing that returns more value when learning a fretted musical instrument like the ukulele than really, and I mean really knowing the names of the notes of the fingerboard. This is not the same as learning to read music — but simply knowing the name of any note on the fingerboard.
Key Frets
The Key Frets are the easy to remember frets that only use the natural notes of the musical alphabet (A, B, C, D, E, F, and G). Once you learn these frets, you get the next higher and lower frets by adding flats or sharps, depending on the direction.
From a few key and secondary key frets, you can master the names of the frets of the ukulele fingerboard.
Working on memorizing the names of each fret on the ukulele s one of the few things on ukulele you can when away from the actual ukulele.
