Slide Gymnastics for Ukulele

Beyond the basic four fret fingering position, it's on to the remaining fingering principles for navigating the fingerboard. The first in the series is the Slide.

Using the Slide fingering principle from the Six Secrets of Ukulele Finger to navigate the ukulele fingerboard.

Slide is used when the passage can not be played within a single 4 fret span or when more notes per string are needed to produce a particular effect.

Slid, used when the passage cannot be played within a single 4 fret span or when more notes per string required to produce a particular effect. I's also used in situations where a gradually ascending or descending diagonal motion best solves the physical and musical demands of the passage.

For four finger gymnastics go back to the four finger basic drills and slide one, two, three, or four fingers - one, two, three or four frets.

After mastering the slide fingering principle, the next fingering principle I typically cover with my private students is the Pass fingering principle.
