Performance Notes for All the Things You Are

Here's how I remember the melody of All the Things You Are:

  • All the Things You Are moves through several keys with the chords following a cycle of fourths in two sections. Fm7, Bbm7, Eb7, Abmaj7, Dbmaj7. This is a VI II V I IV progression.
  • After the Dbmaj7 go up a half step to Dm7 which is the II of a II V to the Cmaj7 (I) of the next key, C major
  • The Cmaj7 turns into Cm7 and a cycle of fourths follows.
