DR Handmade Strings
In 1989, DR Strings re-introduced hand-made round core string making to the general market. It requires a lot of skill, time and care, but we feel it’s worth it because we can hear the difference between a handmade string and a machine made string. If we can hear it, of course players will hear it.
DS Gill Ukuleles
DS Gill ukuleles are hand crafted one at a time by David Gill.
David Gill is a retired mechanical engineer turned luthier. He first started building dulcimers, and a couple mandolins, before beginning to build custom ukuleles full time for a nationally known instrument company. After a couple years, he went out on his own to build soprano and concert sized ukuleles. Currently, he predominately builds more concerts than anything else.

Durham Ukulele Orchestra
The Durham Ukulele Orchestra is a genre busting ensemble whose love for music is rivaled only by the love they have for their favorite little instrument. Skillfully blending selections from the great American songbook, the best of classic rock, and a bit of the indie-alternative scene, the Durham Ukulele Orchestra has fashioned a sound that is both unique and foot-stompingly entertaining. So if the only thing a ukulele reminds you of is tiptoeing through the tulips, come let the Durham Ukulele Orchestra give you a new point of reference.
Formed in 2007, the Durham Ukulele Orchestra organically grew out of the ukulele jam session held at High Strung Violins and Guitars (and ukuleles!) on the first and third Mondays of every month. Upon forming, a weekly practice was organized and the band began to mix together their wide range of tastes and influences into a cohesive and delicious “musical soup†that ranges from jazz standards to art rock classics like Psycho Killer by The Talking Heads.
Dusty Strings
When Ray and Sue Mooers started Dusty Strings in 1979, Ray built hammered dulcimers in the couple’s basement, and the two played and sold them at festivals and craft fairs. After they switched to selling through acoustic music retailers, the business began to grow, adding employees until the basement no longer sufficed.
D’Angelico Guitars of America
John D’Angelico was born in Little Italy, on Manhattan's Lower East Side. At only 9 years old, he became an apprentice to his grand uncle Signor Ciani, an expert violin and mandolin maker.
