The history of the HOYER guitar brand began in 1874, when Franz Hoyer, son of an old German luthier family, opened his own workshop in Schönbach/Egerland (today Czech Republic). Schönbach was an important part of the European musical instrument production at that time.
After making lutes and zithers in the beginning, HOYER changed more and more to classic and folk guitars. Later, the prospering company was continued by his son Joseph Hoyer.
Heart Strings: The Story of the Kamaka Ukulele
The story of Kamaka Ukuleles. Over 100 years, the longest and lone ukulele builder of the original Hawaiin ukulele builders. Of the early Hawaiian manufacturers who were crafting instruments at the start of the 20th century, only one, Kamaka Hawaii, remains in business today. For theirs is a story about age-old values — hard work, fortitude, honesty, and creativity, but through a distinctly Hawaiian point of view — rooted in such concepts as aloha (unconditional love), malama (to serve and care for), and pono (doing what’s right).

Heirloom Ukuleles
Ken Miller started his building career in 1962 when his guitar needed repairs and he fixed it himself. Soon other people were bringing their instruments to him to repair. In the early 70’s he spent several years working at Guild Guitars in Westerly, Rhode Island in a variety of positions including assistant foreman in final assembly. In the following years Ken focused mostly on repairs while managing to build one to four instruments per year. With his wife, Virginia, designing and cutting inlays, they are now building full time.
Henriksen, Inc.
The "Henriksen JazzAmp" was created in 2006 to satisfy a void in the marketplace for a jazz archtop guitar amplifier that produced a pure and true reproduction of the instrument's tone. After having purchased a number of amps, and trying out an even larger number purporting to be jazz friendly amplifiers, I saw a common flaw in the basic design of all of these amps, at least for playing jazz. To my way of looking at it, that common flaw was in the institution of tone circuitry. Why not, I thought, create an amp with no tone controls at all. That would leave "tone color" decisions as the exclusive province of the instrument. The presumption is made that a high quality jazz archtop inherently has built in the jazz tone desired which then only needs to be made louder. Time and market acceptance has proven this to be a valuable insight.

Herbert Buckingham Khaury aka Tiny Tim
Herbert Khaury (April 12, 1932 – November 30, 1996), better known by the stage name Tiny Tim, was an American singer, ukulele player, and musical archivist. He was most famous for his rendition of Tiptoe Through The Tulips sung in his distinctive high falsetto / vibrato voice. He was generally thought of as a novelty act, though his records display a wide knowledge of American songs. Tiny didn’t have a legal middle name, he came up with Buckingham because it sounded like royalty.
