Beltona began as a partnership between Steve Evans and Bill Johnson in the UK in 1990. A luthier and engineer respectively and sharing an interest in resonator instruments, they set out to produce a couple of instruments for themselves replicating the best features of the originals but also making adjustments and improvements where they were needed.

Ben Carr is a Southern Vermont based musician focused on performance and education of drum set, percussion, and ‘ukulele. He fronts his own band, the Ben Carr Music Project, performing 'ukulele and drum inspired original music. Ben also appears with regional acts Mo Ambesa, Sunny Lowdown, and Patty Carpenter, as well as performing solo.

Ben Carr Music also provides live sound reinforcement, sound design, recording, mixing and editing.

Ben Hassenger’s musical career began in the early 1970s when he was arrested for playing “Smoke on the Water” on accordion and singing in animal sounds in the cafeteria at Lansing Community College. It was the start of something special, for sure.

Benny Chong taught himself to play the ukulele when he was about 11 years old. After nine years or so, he virtually put the ukulele away for some thirty-five years. Benny was the guitarist with the Ali’is, the band that backed up Don Ho. In 2000, He was invited him to be one of the four artists in “The Art of Solo ukulele”, a concert series that led to a CD and a public TV special. These events revitalized his interest in the ukulele, resulting in his album.

The Berkeley Ukulele Club is an active community of ukulele players, musicians and singers from all over the San Francisco Bay area. We have our big meetups on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month in Berkeley, California and smaller neighborhood jams throughout the San Francisco Bay Area in between. Whether you are a beginner or seasoned player, please join us twice a month to share songs, techniques and music and uke talk. There are no dues or membership. Just show up and have fun. Everyone is welcome. We love to play!

Big City String Company was founded in 1993 in Bridgeport (the biggest city in) Connecticut. Our mail-order operations expanded to the internet in 1996.

Bigfoot & Tiki. The world’s first sitcom…ic! The story revolves around the “oddest of couples” living together in Big City. First there’s Bigfoot, who grew up as a loner with a wallflower personality. Bigfoot often stood out in a crowd for all the wrong reasons. He was intent on living alone until little Tiki came along, with his laid back, island living lifestyle and “no worries” attitude. Hijinks ensue.

This promises to a wonderful weekend in the beautiful Cumbrian countryside, at the comfortable Gilsland Spa hotel. Two nights full board accommodation with concerts and workshops included! The whole hotel has been booked - all guests will be booked on the Big House in the Country Ukulele Weekend!

The company was started to fill a need in the market for reasonably-priced, very high quality solid koa ukuleles. Having roots deep in Hawaii in the forestry industry supplying Hawaiian koa to ukulele makers around the world, we felt we could capitalize on our ability to supply high quality koa at an affordable cost for our own line of instruments. Decades of experience in the wood industry working with some of the finest luthiers in the world gave us a special insight into and access to one of the most important parts of an instrument- the wood! You cannot ever build an excellent instrument if you don’t start with excellent wood.
