This series of lessons are extracted from my book for use with individual private and on-line students. Each lesson directly corresponds the chapters in my book Harmonic Analysis for Scale Selection and Chord Substitution by Curt Sheller (me).
The book, Harmonic Analysis for Scale and Chord Selection and this
- Analysis of Chord Functions within Chord Progressions (a.k.a., songs)
- Scale Selection Based on Chord Function
- Chord and Scale Substitution Principles
The chord progressions in the books are based on the Tonic-Dominant harmony found in Jazz and Popular songs widely considered to be part of the Standard
jazz repertoire.
The principles in the book and this series are based on extensive research and application. A special thanks to Chuck Anderson for many of the concepts put forth in this book.
Once your learn chords the real power and benefit comes from knowing how they relate to each other, their harmonic function, their Chord Spelling i.e. the Chord Tones .
